Captain Budi Santoso
Head of Marine Operations (Labuan Bajo)
Credentials: Ahli Nautika Tingkat I (ANT I) / Master Mariner Class 1 Certificate (Indonesian Maritime Authority), 20+ years as a Phinisi Captain in Komodo National Park.
Captain Budi is a legend in the Flores Sea. Born and raised in a seafaring family near Labuan Bajo, his knowledge of Komodo’s treacherous currents, hidden bays, and prime dive sites is unparalleled. As our Head of Marine Operations, he is responsible for vetting every phinisi and captain in our portfolio. He personally audits their safety equipment, crew training, and adherence to the Komodo National Park’s Code of Conduct. David is the master of the complex logistical puzzle that is international private aviation. He manages the critical backend processes, including securing overflight and landing permits from both Thai and Indonesian authorities, coordinating with AirNav Indonesia for flight plan approvals, and managing relationships with FBOs (Fixed-Base Operators) and ground handling services at both BKK and LBJ.
